Tester considers introducing MMIW legislation based upon GIC - RMTLC - GPTCA recommendations:

THE REDUCE, RETURN AND RECOVER ACT

Sen Jon Tester (D-MT) 1500x1125.jpg

Despite wide bipartisan support in Congress and the Senate, the GIC-RMTLC-GPTCA amendments to Savanna’s Act have still not been added to the final bill. Members of Congress as diverse as Rep. Alexandria Ocasio Cortez (D-NY) and Senator Steve Daines (R-MT) support the amendments from the frontlines of the MMIW epidemic, approved by representative bodies of some fifty federally recognized Indian tribes.

Senator Jon Tester (D-MT) committed to pushing for the amendments to be included in Savanna’s Act and is now considering crafting stand-alone MMIW legislation based upon the recommendations. The recommendations and the letters advocating for Tester to take action can be read below.
